Caucasus Muslims Office Chairman continues U.S. visit with engagements in Utah
Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO), is continuing his visit to the United States with a series of meetings and events in the state of Utah, SİA reports.
The visit comes at the invitation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Stirling Foundation.
As part of the trip, Sheikhulislam Pashazade took part in the General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held in Salt Lake City on October 4, where he delivered a message to attendees.
In his remarks, he extended greetings from the people of Azerbaijan, a nation recognized for its commitment to multiculturalism, and highlighted the country’s tradition of religious tolerance fostered under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. He underscored Azerbaijan’s reputation as a global example of interfaith harmony.
Pashazade praised the growing cooperation between religious groups in Azerbaijan and the United States, welcoming the inclusion of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Azerbaijan’s diverse religious landscape. He also conveyed gratitude for U.S. support of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and efforts toward peace in the region, noting the outcomes of the Washington Summit held in August and commending the role of U.S. leadership.
Expressing appreciation to the Stirling Foundation for its assistance in humanitarian demining operations across Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, Pashazade also outlined Azerbaijan’s ongoing contributions to intercultural dialogue through initiatives such as the “Baku Process” and the World and Global Summits of Religious Leaders.
He emphasized that Azerbaijan has long been home to peaceful coexistence among various faiths, a legacy established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and carried forward by President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva, whose efforts have elevated Azerbaijan’s standing in promoting global dialogue and understanding.
A film honoring the late President of the Church, Russell Nelson, was also screened during the conference.
As part of his Utah program, Sheikhulislam Pashazade met with Stuart Adams, President of the Utah State Senate, who expressed warm sentiments toward Azerbaijan and praised the nation’s model of multiculturalism.
The visit was attended by Ravan Hasanov, Executive Director of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center, and Javanshir Pashazade, Member of the Milli Majlis. Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade’s official visit to the United States continues.
