Azerbaijani Ambassador to Romania Gudsi Osmanov met with Iași Mayor Mihai Chirica to discuss strengthening ties and exploring cooperation opportunities between Azerbaijan and the Romanian city, SİA reports.
During their meeting, Mayor Chirica highlighted Azerbaijan’s strategic importance to Europe and expressed interest in collaboration in energy, food exports, and defense. He also invited Azerbaijani investors to support the city’s rapid development and emphasized potential partnerships in cultural and humanitarian initiatives, particularly between universities.
Ambassador Osmanov underscored the value of regional cooperation and invited the mayor to visit Azerbaijan. He briefed the Romanian side on ongoing reconstruction and development efforts in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories and proposed collaboration in the Garabakh Economic Region, including the possibility of a twinning agreement with one of its cities. The ambassador reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s readiness to foster university partnerships and other joint initiatives.
