Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received Brendan Hanrahan, the Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs (EUR) at the U.S. Department of State, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told SİA.
During the meeting, officials discussed Azerbaijan-U.S. relations, issues arising from the Memorandum of Understanding on establishing a Strategic Working Group for the preparation of a Strategic Partnership Charter, the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, and regional and international security matters of mutual interest.
The discussion highlighted the historical ties between the two countries and examined mutually beneficial cooperation in areas including security and energy. Officials emphasized the importance of high-level visits and contacts, particularly the one in Washington earlier this year, in strengthening bilateral relations.
The meeting also underscored the significance of historic agreements reached under Azerbaijan’s initiative to advance the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agenda, including the initialing of a peace treaty and steps to dismantle remnants of past conflicts.
Participants additionally exchanged views on other topics of mutual interest.
