Ambassador: China-Azerbaijan relations reached their highest level in history

President Ilham Aliyev’s recent visit to China has given a strong impetus to bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in various fields, while also enriching the substance of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, China’s ambassador to Azerbaijan, Lu Mei said at a press conference dedicated to the outcomes of the Azerbaijani President’s visit to China, SİA reports.

She noted that under the leadership of the two heads of state, the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Azerbaijan has been further strengthened:

“President Ilham Aliyev has visited China eight times and held more than 10 meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping in various formats. The leaders of the two countries have established solid working relations and strengthened their deep personal friendship. President Xi Jinping referred to President Ilham Aliyev as an old friend. It is precisely under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state that China-Azerbaijan relations are constantly reaching new levels and have already achieved their highest point in history.”

The diplomat highlighted that President Ilham Aliyev’s recent trip to China was his second visit to the country within a year. The Azerbaijani leader stayed in China for approximately four days: “Friends from Azerbaijan told me that the President has never previously spent such a long period in any foreign country.”
