On September 3, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Sahiba Gafarova, met with Ahmed Metani, the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Azerbaija, the press service of the Azerbaijani Parliament told SİA.
During the meeting, Speaker Gafarova congratulated the ambassador on the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan and wished him success in his duties.
The conversation underscored the friendship and brotherhood between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Palestine, rooted in common values. The importance of bilateral ties and mutual support on the international stage was also emphasized.
Ambassador Metani expressed appreciation to Azerbaijan for its continued support to the Palestinian people and its active role in efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict. He also shared positive impressions from his meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev,.
The meeting included an exchange of views on interparliamentary cooperation, particularly within international parliamentary platforms. It was noted that the legislative bodies of both countries enjoy productive collaboration within the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), and the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Other issues of shared interest were also discussed during the talks.
