Over 20 years of hard work, the Judicial-Legal Council and its staff have formed a modern, educated and conscientious judicial corps in Azerbaijan, the head of the Legislation and Legal Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Gunduz Karimov said at the international conference "Global Challenges in Judicial Management" in Baku, according to Report.
He noted that the Judicial-Legal Council is one of the most striking examples of public administration that has freed itself from Soviet methods, and remains so even in the modern era.
"In recent years, a number of reforms have been carried out to ensure the activities of the Judicial and Legal Council. The judicial system is a small family. An original, separately managed, sometimes even closed family. There may be 600, 700, 800 judges in the country, but this is not the main issue. This small, specific family protects the highest pillars of the state. Its independence is extremely important. As long as the selection, appointment and promotion of judges in the judicial system do not depend on ideological factors, family ties, friendly relations and territorial preferences, the faith of society and the judges themselves in the independence of the judicial system will grow, trust in the decisions it makes will strengthen, which, in turn, will increase the quantity and quality of the impact of the decisions made," added Gunduz Karimov.
