China ready to expand humanitarian cooperation with Azerbaijan

China is ready to expand humanitarian cooperation with Azerbaijan, recognizing it as a country that supports global initiatives promoting dialogue among civilizations, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei said during an event dedicated to the first International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations, celebrated on June 10, according to Report.

"The International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations contributes to deepening mutual understanding and friendship among peoples through dialogue. We are ready to write a new chapter in strengthening the ties between the peoples of China and Azerbaijan," she said.

The diplomat recalled that in April of this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

"The declaration emphasizes that Azerbaijan fully supports the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by China and highly values the resolution on proclaiming the 'International Day for Dialogue Among Civilizations,' also put forward by China. Azerbaijan is also ready to jointly uphold respect for the diversity of civilizations and actively promote humanitarian exchanges and cooperation," she added.

Lu Mei highlighted that China supports Azerbaijan’s efforts within the framework of the Baku Process, including the international forums organized by Azerbaijan to encourage intercultural dialogue.

"This demonstrates that both countries support each other's initiatives and are jointly implementing the Global Civilization Initiative," she concluded.
