A delegation led by Lieutenant General Namig Islamzada, Deputy Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan and Commander of the Air Force, paid an official visit to Uzbekistan at the invitation of Major General Ahmad Burkhanov, Commander of Uzbekistan’s Air and Air Defense Forces.
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense told SİA that the visit began in Tashkent with a tribute at Heydar Aliyev Square, where the Azerbaijani delegation laid flowers at the monument of the national leader.
During the visit, General Islamzada held meetings with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Defense, Major General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov, and his counterpart, Major General Burkhanov.
"The meetings focused on the current state and future prospects of military cooperation between the two countries, with a broad exchange of views on the importance of reciprocal visits in fostering the exchange of experience between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in the fields of military aviation and air defense, as well as other areas," the statement emphasized.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation also visited the Chirchik airbase and a military unit, where they familiarized themselves with the activities of the institutions and the conditions established there.
