Lu Mei: Visit of Azerbaijani president to China opens new chapter in Baku-Beijing relations
The visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to China in April, as well as the signing of a number of documents with the participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, opens a new historical chapter in relations between Baku and Beijing, the Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei said, SİA informs.
According to Lu Mei, in recent years, thanks to the strategic vision of the leaders of the two countries, comprehensive cooperation between Baku and Beijing has been developing at a faster pace.
"Last month, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made his third state visit to China. Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint statement on establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Azerbaijan, opening a new historical chapter in Chinese-Azerbaijani relations. During the visit, China and Azerbaijan also signed 20 cooperation documents in areas such as the Belt and Road Initiative, 'green development', digital economy, international property rights, mutual visa exemption, etc.," she said.
The diplomat emphasized that high-level contacts between the two countries have become more frequent: "Political mutual trust is growing, trade and investment cooperation is expanding, and bilateral trade volume is reaching new indicators."
Lu Mei noted that Azerbaijan and China have achieved significant success in jointly implementing the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, particularly in cooperation on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) and the China-Europe railway express.
"I am the tenth Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan. I feel a great honor from my mission and deeply realize the great responsibility it imposes," she emphasized, adding that she will make every effort to strengthen Chinese-Azerbaijani relations during her term as ambassador in Baku.
