Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Ali Asadov meets with To Lam

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov has met with General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam, who is on a state visit to Azerbaijan, SİA informs referring to the Cabinet of Ministers.

During the meeting, Ali Asadov noted the importance of the talks between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and General Secretary To Lam. Confidence was expressed that these talks, as well as the signed solid package of bilateral documents covering various areas of cooperation, will open a new page in the history of interstate relations. It was emphasized that Azerbaijani-Vietnamese relations have very ancient and rich traditions. The foundations of the relationship were laid by the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev and the first President of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh.

The visit of President Ho Chi Minh to Azerbaijan in 1959 and the visit of Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam in 1983 marked the beginning of friendship between the two peoples. The importance of the opening of the exhibition dedicated to Ho Chi Minh and his bust at the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University during To Lam's visit was noted.

It was stated that, continuing the legacy left by Heydar Aliyev and Ho Chi Minh, the leadership of both countries today demonstrates political will to strengthen friendly ties. In particular, the state visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Vietnam in 2014 made an important contribution to the development of relations and increasing the level of cooperation based on trust.

Satisfaction was expressed with the effective cooperation between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, both in bilateral and multilateral formats within international organizations.
