Heydar Aliyev's personality is a symbol of wisdom, determination, and loyalty to the homeland for every Azerbaijani, Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament), stated at the special session of the parliament held today, SİA informs.
Gafarova noted that one of the Great Leader's exceptional services to the Azerbaijani people was the preparation of the first constitution of independent Azerbaijan:
"The supreme document adopted in 1995 can be compared with the most democratic constitutions in the world. The success of Azerbaijan has continued with unprecedented historical victories under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, who worthily continues the work initiated by the Great Leader. Azerbaijan has now become an important energy center in Eurasia. Large investments have been made in various fields. Our country has strengthened its position in the Non-Aligned Movement and other international organizations, becoming a venue for summits and international events.
Today, we are witnessing reconstruction and restoration work in liberated Karabakh. Azerbaijanis are demonstrating to the world that they are a constructive people by turning the remnants of vandalism into a flower garden. Azerbaijan will continue on the path of sustainable development and achieve new historical victories."
Later, a documentary film dedicated to the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" prepared by the Office of the Milli Majlis was screened.
