Azerbaijan provides scholarships and grants to students from Iraq, as well as to representatives of other member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said today in Baghdad at a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein, SİA informs.
According to the head of the department, the countries aim to expand ties in many areas, one of which is education.
"In addition, today during the discussions we emphasized the importance of expanding ties between citizens, in particular through the organization of cultural events," Bayramov noted.
He added that student exchange programs and educational missions play an important role in deepening bilateral ties.
The head of the department also highlighted initiatives to encourage mutual travel and trade between the two countries.
Bayramov confirmed that humanitarian issues, the situation in Syria and the Gaza Strip were also touched upon at the talks: "We agreed on the need to find a solution to the situation in Gaza," he said, confirming Azerbaijan's support for resolving regional conflicts through diplomatic means.
