MEDIA Executive Director: Local media exposes true intentions behind smear campaigns against Azerbaijan
“Our journalists, who served as soldiers on the information front during the Patriotic War to convey the truth about our country to the world, are now proudly preparing reports about the large-scale reconstruction works being carried out in the Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur economic regions, as well as the Great Return process,” Ahmad Ismayilov, Executive Director of the Media Development Agency, said during the opening ceremony of the 2nd Forum on “Public Processes in the Media Landscape,” organized by MEDIA, APA reports.
He also noted that, at the same time, efforts continue to raise awareness and reduce the harmful effects of disinformation by providing timely and appropriate responses to external interference in the country’s information environment:
“As a result of the modern organization of media and communication activities in recent years, the true intentions of those conducting smear campaigns against our country are now swiftly exposed by the local media, and a strong natural resistance — an 'information immunity' — is being reinforced in society against the spread of negative news.
Incidentally, as always emphasized by the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, who consistently calls on every media outlet to be objective and impartial above all, the press must prioritize the interests of its people and state, and promote the principles of compassion and justice within society.”
