Karabakh is Azerbaijan, this is the direct and clear position of Berlin, President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier said, speaking at a joint press statement with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, SİA informs.
"We have always said that this is your [Azerbaijani] territory and today we confirm this position of Germany," said Steinmeier, answering the question why no measures were applied against Armenia during the 30 years of occupation of Azerbaijani territories.
The German President congratulated Azerbaijan on the steps taken and the progress achieved in this direction over the past year. “A crucial moment has arrived to reach an agreement. I hope this opportunity will be seized, a peace treaty will be signed, and lasting peace will be established in your region. I have great hopes for this,” he emphasized.
President Frank-Walter Steinmeier also reaffirmed Germany’s readiness to provide the necessary support for this process.
