At the invitation of Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev, a Turkish delegation led by Istanbul Chief Prosecutor Akin Gurlek paid a working visit to Baku on January 30-31, SİA informs.
A bilateral meeting was held at the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office. During the meeting, Kamran Aliyev noted that the development of friendly and cooperative relations between the two states has risen to the level of strategic partnership thanks to the joint efforts and unwavering political will of heads of state Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He mentioned that bilateral relations are successfully developing in many areas, especially between prosecutor's offices, and spoke about effective cooperation in mutual legal assistance and extradition in criminal cases.
Akin Gurlek noted that historically, relations between the two countries have been successfully developed in political, economic, cultural, and other fields, emphasizing that these relations were precisely expressed in the sayings of Azerbaijan's National Leader Heydar Aliyev's "one nation, two states" and Türkiye's founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's "Azerbaijan's joy is our joy, Azerbaijan's sorrow is our sorrow."
During the meeting, perspectives of bilateral and multilateral joint activities were discussed, including a useful exchange of views on legal cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, and confidence was expressed that mutually beneficial activities would continue successfully.
The delegation familiarized themselves with the new administrative building of the Prosecutor General's Office and the Victory Museum, and held meetings with the heads of the prosecutor's office's structural units. The guests also got acquainted with the activities of the General Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General and the Baku City Prosecutor's Office.
The delegation's visit to Azerbaijan has ended.
