Kobakhidze: Georgia ready for qualitative reset of relations with US

Georgia is ready to qualitatively reset relations with the US and resume strategic partnership with this country from scratch, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said during a government meeting.

SİA informs via Georgian media that Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed the country's readiness to reset relations with the US after the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump.

"We can once again confirm our readiness and desire to substantially reset relations, to resume strategic relations with the US from scratch. We hope that we will have important successes in this direction," he said.

Regarding today's inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump, Kobakhidze also noted that the last four years have been difficult worldwide, and Georgia had "four attempted revolutions." The Prime Minister expressed hope that the next four years, during Trump's administration, will be much calmer, which he said would positively affect Georgia as well.

"President Trump has a very ambitious plan - it's a plan to defeat the creation of the 'deep state.' We want to wish President Trump success in this matter. Victory in this matter will be crucial in normalizing Georgian-American relations," he noted.
