Russian Foreign Ministry: Just like Azerbaijan, Russia also wants to know full truth about AZAL plane crash
All countries whose citizens died and were injured during the crash of Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) aircraft near Aktau want to know the truth about the causes of the crash, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said during the briefing, according to SİA
"I know that every citizen of Azerbaijan, not just those who became part of the tragedy due to the loss of loved ones, wants to know the truth. And I can say that our country [Russia] needs this truth no less. I think that now we need to do everything to unite efforts to find the truth," she said.
Zakharova emphasized that today they observe many attempts to influence through media, social networks, and so on with "destructive purposes."
"Possibly to lead the investigation in another direction, possibly to sow discord between people, to cause clash between them. One of the recent examples of this is the alleged letter from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Azerbaijani diplomats," said the Foreign Ministry representative, noting that this is backed by forces "seeking to strike at the allied relations between Azerbaijan and Russia."
The AZAL passenger plane, operating the Baku-Grozny flight, crashed on December 25 near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Of the 67 people on board, 38 died and 29 survived.
According to preliminary data, the plane crashed as a result of physical and technical external interference in Russian airspace.
