Azerbaijan and Maldives hold first-ever political consultations

Azerbaijan and the Republic of Maldives have conducted their first-ever political consultations at the level of their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

SİA informs, citing the statement released by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs that the consultations were led by Elnur Mammadov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, who headed a government delegation on a visit to the Maldives. The Maldivian side was represented by Fathimath Inaya, Secretary of Foreign Affairs.

During the discussions, both parties explored ways to expand their bilateral and multilateral political ties, while also assessing the current state and future prospects of cooperation across various sectors, including trade, economy, energy, logistics, transportation, tourism, and humanitarian affairs.

The representatives from both ministries lauded the high level of cooperation between the two countries in international organizations and emphasized the importance of strengthening mutual support in multilateral forums.

During the visit, the Azerbaijani government delegation also held meetings with Hussain Mohammed Latif, Vice President of the Republic of Maldives, and Mohammed Said, Minister of Economic Development and Trade.

The Azerbaijani delegation comprised representatives from key government bodies, including the Ministries of Economy, Energy, Digital Development and Transport, as well as the State Agency for Tourism.
