Four years pass since liberation of Azerbaijan's Gubadli from Armenian occupation

Today, four pass since the liberation of Gubadli from occupation, SİA reports.

Gubadli was liberated from Armenian occupation on October 25, 2020, as a result of the counter-offensive of the Azerbaijani Army that began on September 27, 2020.

During the Second Garabagh War, the crushing blow to the enemy forces in Jabrayil district, located in the east of the district, and the successful operations conducted in a short time in Zangilan district, located in the south, made it possible for the units of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces to enter the administrative boundaries of Gubadli district.

On October 26, in his address to the people, the head of state announced the destroyed and captured weapons and equipment of the enemy during the nearly one-month-long Patriotic War, at the same time, he declared that, on October 25, the Azerbaijani Army had liberated the city of Gubadli, along with the villages of Padar, Afandilar, Yusifbayli, Chaytumas, Khanlig, Sariyatag, Mollaburhan in the Gubadli district; the villages of Birinci Alibayli, Ikinci Alibayli, Raband, Yenikand in the Zangilan district; and the villages of Govshudlu, Sofulu, Dag Mashanli, Kurdlar, Hovuslu, and Chalabilar in the Jabrayil district from occupation.

Fierce battles were conducted for the liberation of the city of Gubadli from occupation. The Azerbaijani Army, which broke the enemy's resistance, forced them to retreat and made them suffer a heavy defeat. During the Gubadli operation, a significant number of enemy troops and equipment from the Armenian army were destroyed.

The “For the liberation of Gubadli” medal was established in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In accordance with the Order of President Ilham Aliyev, military servicemen who showed personal courage and bravery in participating in the battle operations for the liberation of the Gubadli district from occupation were awarded the "For the release of Gubadli" medal.

By the Order signed by President Ilham Aliyev, October 25 was established as Gubadli City Day.

Recall that the Gubadli district was occupied by the Armenian Armed Forces on August 31, 1993. During the occupation, Armenians destroyed the city of Gubadli, the villages of the region, and committed acts of vandalism against religious, historical, and cultural monuments, cemeteries, as well as nature. Invaders have also committed environmental terrorism against the rich nature, flora, and fauna of Gubadli, cut down and burnt forests, rare trees, and plant species.
