Baku and Yerevan may intensify the process of state border delimitation based on the basic principles of the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration after the provisions on joint activities of the Commission on State Border Delimitation and Border Security between Armenia and Azerbaijan come into force, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the BRICS summit in Kazan in the Outreach/BRICS+ format.
He reminded that Azerbaijan and Armenia have repeatedly stated over the past months that the draft treaty on establishing peace and interstate relations is ready at least 80-90%.
He noted that the wording has been fully agreed upon regarding mutual recognition of territorial integrity, absence of mutual territorial claims and commitment not to make such claims in the future, on the principle of non-use of force, non-interference in internal affairs, establishment of diplomatic relations, and creation of bilateral mechanisms for fulfilling commitments undertaken by the parties and provided for in the peace treaty.
He again emphasized that Armenia is ready to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan.
"Our assessment is that already today, in its agreed content, the draft treaty formulates, addresses, and resolves all fundamental issues necessary to establish a solid foundation for peace and normalization of relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan. We propose to Azerbaijan to sign this treaty already," he added.
