“Precinct election commissions of district election commission (DEC) No. 114 and 115 operating in Sheki have completed preparations for the snap elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan scheduled for September 1. All polling stations have been prepared for the voting day,” Kamran Rasulov, Chairman of the District Election Commission of Sheki City Constituency No. 114 told Secki 2024 Independent Media Center.
He said that eight candidates will compete for the a mandate to the Milli Majlis in this constituency. Three of them represent different political parties, and five people put forward their candidacy were on their own initiative.
According to the chairman of the district election commission, each of the 44 polling stations where voting will be held is being provided with the necessary equipment, as well as various technical means and stable communication. Five days before voting, another polling station will be set up in the Sheki Penitentiary Service Institution.
“It is worth noting that according to the latest updated voter lists, the total number of voters in the district is 53,371 people. Of which 587 will vote for the first time in these elections. The age of 880 voters is between 80-100. The oldest voters in the district are 98-year-old Khatin Salamova and Telli Mammadhasanova, who will vote in the polling stations located in Bash Goynuk village,” he noted.
Kamran Rasulov noted that polling station No. 20, which is part of the district, is located in the building of the kindergarten. All conditions have been created for holding parliamentary elections in the precinct in accordance with the requirements of the legislation. He added that it is planned to install a webcam here to monitor the voting process.
The chairman of the precinct election commission Samir Hajiyev pointed out that according to the latest updated voter lists, 1,434 voters were registered in the precinct and 13 of them will vote for the first time on September 1.
“Some 12 voters are over 80 years old. The oldest voter in the precinct is 92-year-old Mammadova, daughter of Tamara Habillakh. He will participate in the voting in person,” he stressed.
Besides, in the polling stations of Sheki village electoral district No. 115, preparations for the parliamentary elections are being conducted in accordance with the requirements of the election legislation.
Rasim Azizov, chairman of the district election commission, told that the total number of voters in 61 polling stations within the district is 54,890 people.
“Of which 492 will vote for the first time and 870 voters are between 80 and 100 years old. The oldest voter is 98-year-old Ali Rustamov from Kicich Dahna village.
A total of eight candidates are fighting for the only seat in the district. Two of them represent political parties. Six people were nominated on their own initiative. So far, 871 local observers have registered. Long-term observers of the OSCE election observation mission from Russia and Germany visited the electoral district and were interested in the progress of preparatory work,” he said.
The polling station No. 52, which is part of the district, is located in the building of the city secondary school No. 12. All conditions have been created for holding parliamentary elections in the precinct in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.
Chairman of the precinct election commission Gunel Rahimova noted that 1,495 voters were registered in the precinct and 17 of them will vote for the first time in these elections.
“The oldest voter is Aliakbar Zakariayev, born in 1938. Voters with health problems will be given the opportunity to vote with a portable ballot box at their place of residence,” Gunel Rahimova noted.
