The age category of the candidates registered for the Milli Majlis elections to be held on September 1 has been announced. A total of 1,052 candidates for MP were registered in the snap parliamentary elections, Secki 2024 Independent Media Center informs citing the interim report of the "For Civil Society" NGO Election Observation Coalition.
The report reads that a total of 1,508 people applied for candidacy. The candidacy of 1,462 people who were nominated for the post of MP was confirmed, and 1,420 of them were given signature sheets, and 1,197 people returned their signature sheets. Thus, the candidacy of 145 people (12%) was not registered.
The Coalition conducted an analysis of the registered candidates based on the information of the Central Election Commission and open sources.
The distribution of 1,052 registered candidates by age groups was as follows:
18-39 years: ~39.4%
40-59 years: ~43.0%
60 years and older: ~17.6%
Based on the gender distribution, the number distribution of candidates with percentage ratio is as follows:
Female – 26.4%
Men – 73.6%
Some 308 of the registered candidates are representatives of 25 political parties and 592 authorized representatives of 25 political parties were registered.
