Some 30 of registered as candidates in elections are municipal members and employees
A total of 30 people registered as candidates in the snap elections to the Milli Majlis are municipal members and employees. They nominated themselves from Sabail, M.A. Rasulzade, Narimanov, Khatai, Yevlakh, Binagadi settlement and Bilajari, Binagadi, Yasamal, Khojasen, Sumgayit, Corat, H.Z. Taghiyev, Nasimi, Buzovna, Ramana, Balakhani, Agdash and Barda municipalities.
Secki 2024 Independent Media Center informs, citing the report submitted by the Election Observation Coalition For Civil Society on August 20 regarding the parliamentary elections.
The report reads that 10 of the candidates are members of the municipality and 20 are municipal employees. Two of the candidates are mayors (M.A. Rasulzadeh and Aghdash). Out of thirty candidates, 13 are women and 17 are men.
More candidates were registered in Khazar First Electoral District No. 12. The least number of registered candidates in the districts is six people. These constituencies are Sharur-Sadarak Constituency No. 1, Khatai-Surakhani Constituency No. 36, Absheron First Constituency No. 48, Siyazan-Guba-Khizi Constituency No. 55 and Lankaran-Masalli Constituency No. 76.
It is worth noting that on June 28, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the dissolution of the 6th convocation of the Milli Majlis and the appointment of snap elections to the Milli Majlis. According to the decree, the sixth convocation of the Milli Majlis was canceled and early elections were scheduled for September 1.
