Seminar & consultation held in Penitentiary Service of Ministry of Justice regarding elections to Milli Majlis
On August 16, a seminar and consultation was held at the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice in connection with the snap elections to the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Secki 2024 Independent Media Center reports that, the leadership of the Penitentiary Service, representatives of the Central Election Commission, responsible employees of the General Department of the Service, heads of penal institutions and pretrial detention centers, commanders of the Guard Regiment and the Convoy Battalion, as well as the relevant constituencies in the areas where those institutions are located participated in the event which dedicated to the organization of elections and voting in penitentiary institutions.
Opening the Seminar and Consultation, Deputy Minister of Justice, Chief of the Penitentiary Service Major General Mirsaleh Seyidov emphasized that the election legislation of Azerbaijan fully guarantees the free exercise of the constitutional rights of our citizens. The Deputy Minister drew attention to the tasks and recommendations of the Minister of Justice Farid Ahmadov in order to organize the voting at a high level and conduct it transparently in the subordinate institutions of the service, and said that the preparation of the polling stations in accordance with the requirements of the legislation is being carried out. The head of the service noted that, as in all other polling stations across the country, a favorable election environment has been created in subordinate institutions.
In her speech, the secretary of the Central Election Commission, Arifa Mukhtarova, spoke about the relevant provisions of the Constitution and the Election Code regarding the right to vote, and about the voting rights of voters in prisons and detention centers. She also said that all processes continue successfully based on the requirements of the election legislation and the Calendar plan prepared and approved by the Central Election Commission.
Head of the Central Election Commission Secretariat, Ramin Nuraliyev, informed about the steps taken in the direction of free, fair and transparent elections, all procedures, including the preparation of polling stations for election, the voting process, exceptional circumstances on the election day, counting of votes and filling out the official protocols on the results of the voting and explained clearly and in detail.
At the end of the seminar and consultation, there was an exchange of ideas and discussions on the topics, and the questions of the participants were answered.
