As a result of joint operation and search measures of the State Security Service and the State Border Service against the illegal circulation of drugs, a large number of drugs smuggled into the territory of Azerbaijan by the citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran was discovered and seized, SİA reports.
With immediate measures taken, citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Gasimov Vali Mahir born in 1982, Isgenderov Isgender Jafar born in 1988, Suleymanzade Agshin Yusifali, born in 1993, and Dashdamirov Chingiz Fakrali, born in 1982, who does not hold citizenship, were caught red-handed while attempting to remove the 74 kg 163 grams of dried marijuana from a green area along the roadside in Pirşağı settlement, Sabunçu district, Baku, which the citizens of the mentioned foreign country hid.
According to the fact, a criminal case has been initiated under articles 206.3.2 (smuggling of narcotics by a group of pre-conspired persons), 234.4.1, and 234.4.3 (smuggling of large quantities of drugs by a group of pre-conspired persons) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the mentioned persons were brought to criminal responsibility.
Investigations are currently underway.
