Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahibə Qafarova has met with Singaporean Parliament Speaker Seah Kian Peng during her official visit to Singapore.
The two speakers discussed bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation between their countries, SIA reports.
Seah Kian Peng expressed his confidence that the visit will contribute to the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Singapore, and emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between their parliaments. He also noted that the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries is a significant milestone, and that cooperation has been growing in various fields over the past few years.
During the meeting, it was also mentioned that despite geographical distance, there are numerous opportunities for cooperation between the two countries that serve their mutual interests. The speakers also highlighted the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and Singapore within international organizations, including the Non-Aligned Movement.
Speaker Sahibə Qafarova emphasized the importance of further developing parliamentary cooperation between Azerbaijan and Singapore, as well as supporting each other in parliamentary organizations. She also informed Seah Kian Peng about the upcoming 29th session of the United Nations Climate Change Conference – COP29, which will take place in November in Baku, and invited him to participate in a parliamentary meeting organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Azerbaijani Parliament.
