Amirbayov: Armenia agreed that Azerbaijan would host COP29 as a result of confidence-building measures
Armenia, as a member of the COP Bureau, has agreed that Azerbaijan would host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) as a result of confidence-building measures, Elchin Amirbayov, Azerbaijani Presidential Representative for Special Assignments, said in an interview with the German newspaper Die Zeit, SİA informs.
According to him, the exchange of military personnel between countries is also a favorable trend, which also contributes to strengthening trust between Baku and Yerevan.
"Take a look at the agreement with Armenia on the COP-29 climate conference,” he says. “We agreed to exchange 32 detained Armenian security personnel for two Azerbaijanis. At the same time, Armenia became a member of the COP bureau and, in return, agreed that Azerbaijan would host the COP-29 climate conference this year. That was the result of confidence-building measures and shows how it can be done!"
