US Religious Delegation Commends Azerbaijan's Interreligious Harmony
The US delegation, comprised of religious figures, expressed admiration for Azerbaijan's interreligious harmony and tolerant atmosphere during their meeting with Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Ramin Mammadov.
Among the members of the delegation were leaders from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of the United States of America. David Bednar, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and Jack Gerard, a member of the Quorum of the Seventy Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, were present, along with President of The Stirling Foundation Miles Hansen and CEO of the Foundation Edward Rowe.
Emphasizing the significance of sharing Azerbaijan's model of tolerance, the delegation highlighted how the country's tolerant environment and culture of peaceful coexistence have been further fortified in alignment with the state-religion concept. They learned that promoting religious harmony has become a priority in state policy, with President Ilham Aliyev consistently providing financial aid to both Islamic and non-Islamic religious communities. This support aims to foster harmony in their activities, without any discrimination.
Throughout the meeting, discussions also revolved around prospective collaborative projects between the two parties.
