Joint Russian-Turkish Monitoring Centre in Azerbaijan's Aghdam ceased its activity-PHOTO

On April 26, a grand closing ceremony of Joint Russian-Turkish Monitoring Centre, located in the territory of Aghdam district, was held, SİA reports.

The ceremony was attended by First Deputy Minister of Defense – Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev, Adviser to the Minister of Defense, Colonel General Bakhtiyar Ersay, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Sergey Istrakov, military servicemen and media representatives.

Firstly, the National anthems of all 3 countries were played.

Greeting the participants of the ceremony, Colonel General K. Valiyev spoke about the activity of the Joint Russian-Turkish Monitoring Centre, which was established by the Memorandum signed between the Republic of Türkiye and the Russian Federation dated November 11, 2020.

Chief of the General Staff expressed his gratitude to the Turkish and Russian military servicemen for their honest and brave service for the sake of peace and stability in the region since January 30, 2021, and wished them success in their future services.

It was also noted that by the statement of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the President of the Russian Federation, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia dated November 10, 2020, the process of complete withdrawal of the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation, temporarily stationed in the Garabagh Economic Region of Azerbaijan, from the territory of the country has begun due to the early termination of activities by the agreement reached between the top leadership of the two countries.

The closing ceremony ended with the presentation of an artistic program with the participation of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Army Ideological and Cultural Center named after Hazi Aslanov and the Military Orchestra of the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev.
