President Ilham Aliyev met with Chairman of Munich Security Conference
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has met with Chairman of the Munich Security Conference Christoph Heusgen in Munich, at the latter’s request.
Christoph Heusgen expressed his gratitude to the head of our state for the invitation and participation in the Munich Security Conference and conveyed congratulations on COP29 being hosted in Azerbaijan, SIA reports.
President Ilham Aliyev extended his appreciation for the invitation to the Munich Security Conference and expressed gratitude for the congratulations related to COP29.
Christoph Heusgen highlighted that the Munich Security Conference adopts a comprehensive and detailed approach to security, considering climate change as part of the security concept. He emphasized his readiness for collaboration with Azerbaijan as the Co-Chair of the Munich Security Conference in the framework of COP29 and during the joint event in our country.
This proposal was warmly welcomed by the head of our state. The COP Organization Committee of Azerbaijan informed that collaborative work would be carried out with the Co-Chair of the Munich Security Conference on this direction.
President Ilham Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan is ready to work with all international partners for COP29 to be result-oriented. Currently, a tripartite mechanism has been established within the COP framework, bringing together the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, and Brazil.
During the meeting, regional issues were also discussed. The head of our state expressed support for Azerbaijan's peace agenda, normalization of relations with Armenia, and the signing of a peace agreement. He noted that the meeting organized by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in this regard proceeded in fruitful and constructive conditions.
