Azerbaijani, Polish FMs discuss regional issues over phone

Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a telephone conversation with his Polish counterpart, Radosław Sikorski.

The two sides discussed the bilateral cooperation agenda and regional issues during their phone call.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov extended his congratulations to his colleague on his recent appointment. He also emphasized the importance of the strong friendship, respect, and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Poland in their cooperation within bilateral and multilateral platforms.

Both parties recognized the potential for further expanding their bilateral cooperation in various fields such as politics, economics, energy, alternative energy, and humanitarian issues. They also highlighted the role of political consultations and parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening their ties. Additionally, they underlined the significance of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Poland.

FM Jeyhun Bayramov provided an overview of the current regional situation, particularly in the post-conflict period, and highlighted the opportunities for peace now that Azerbaijan has regained sovereignty over its territories.

The FM also stressed the importance of the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be hosted by Azerbaijan this year, in further promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

During the conversation, the two also exchanged views on other regional issues of mutual interest.
