Blinken, Herzog address Middle East conflict

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken reiterated his country's support "for Israel’s right to defend itself against terrorism" in a phone call with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, SİA reports citing Teletrader.

According to a statement issued by the Department of State, Blinken "emphasized the need to take feasible precautions to minimize harm to civilians." They also addressed the protection of American citizens in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza and highlighted their countries' efforts to ensure the safe return of hostages, expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians in Gaza, and prevent the escalation of the conflict.

Earlier, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin also addressed the topic with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
