France has pursued an illegal policy against the Kanak people, Kanak representative Davy Nicolas Bolo told an international conference on "Neocolonialism: violation of human rights and injustice" held in Baku, Report informs.
"We would like to commemorate all the war victims. Innocent people are under fire in all regions. We must talk about our freedom. Poverty is increasing in our country. France absurdly continues its colonial policy. The decolonization process was initiated by the UN. Various documents were signed. France still does not respect those documents. In 1975, a choice was made, and we wanted to fight for independence. In 1981, the leader of the main party tried to become active in this movement and was killed. He was the first white man who fought for our rights and killed," Davy Nicolas Bolo added.
