Brenda Shaffer: Ukraine and Georgia are allowed conduct military operations against terrorists, but not Azerbaijan?
Ukraine and Georgia are allowed to conduct military operations against terrorists, but Azerbaijan is not allowed? Brenda Shaffer, a professor at the U.S. Naval War College and an expert on foreign policy wrote this on her X (formerly known as Twitter) account as she made commentary on the position of the American media and think tanks in the post-Soviet space regarding various geopolitical conflicts, SİA reports.
Shaffer emphasized that when Ukraine fights to expel Russian troops from its territory, we see “Slava Ukraini!” reactions, or when a similar conflict is happening in Georgia, we witness “Go Georgia!” reactions.
According to her, when Azerbaijan fights to expel 10k of Armenia's troops from its territory that are placing mines on Azerbaijan's roads, the reaction is “need to stop Azerbaijan.”
Shaffer also touched upon the position of the US in such matters: “Could you imagine a US Secretary of State Antony Blinken calling up Ukraine and asking Kyiv not to conduct military operations against terrorists operating from Crimea or Donetsk? The US upholds the principle of territorial integrity, except in the case of Azerbaijan.
