Russia unpleasantly surprised by Armenia’s refusal to let in head of Russian Friendship Society
Russia is unpleasantly surprised by the refusal of the Armenian authorities to let in Viktor Krivopuskov, head of the Russian Society for Friendship and Cooperation with Armenia, into the republic, SİA informs referring to TASS citing a diplomatic source.
“Information in the media that the border service of the Yerevan Zvartnots airport on the night of August 24 refused to let in Viktor Krivopuskov, president of the Russian Society for Friendship and Cooperation with Armenia, unpleasantly surprised the Russian side,” the source said.
The Armenian authorities didn’t explain the reasons for their refusal to let Krivopuskov into the territory of Armenia. The public figure planned to take part in the presentation of the Armenian-Russian Society of Friendship and Cooperation established in the republic.
Moscow had already asked the Armenian partners to ‘explain the motives for this decision of the authorities and the status of a Russian citizen from the point of view of the republican border service.’
“Unfortunately, the restrictions imposed by Yerevan on well-known Russian politicians, public figures, media representatives are becoming a vicious practice that does not work for the development of bilateral relations,” the source said.
