Armenia to start design work on construction of checkpoint on border with Türkiye

The State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia signed an agreement with Arbak and Sons LLC on the preparation of design estimates to build the Margara customs checkpoint on the border with Türkiye.

SİA informs citing the Armenian media that the cost of the contract is about 28.3 million drams (about $72,000).

The document was published at armeps.am.

The total cost of construction, together with the necessary equipment, will be 732.8 million drams (1.87 million dollars).

According to the project, it is planned to build a one-story service hall, two pavilions for cargo clearance, two pavilions for rest of the duty shift, a one-story customs inspection building, parking lots, platforms, internal roads, two checkpoints and a one-story warehouse.

There are no diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Armenia, the border between the two countries has been closed since 1993. However, the countries reached an agreement this year, according to which the Armenian-Turkish border is planned to be opened by the summer for citizens of third countries, as well as for persons with diplomatic passports.
