Azerbaijani FM highlights France's noncontributory position to the peace process
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, received a delegation led by the Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of France, Catherine Colonna, as part of her working visit to Azerbaijan.
The one-on-one meeting between Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Minister Catherine Colonna continued in a large format with the participation of delegations from both sides, the press service of the ministry told SIA.
Azerbaijan openly and transparently took steps on its territory in accordance with its Constitution and rights. The country explained the essence of the problem two and a half years before this step. During these two and a half years, we did not see a call from France to Armenia even once, said Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at a joint press conference with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic Catherine Colonna.
Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that financing of 10,000 illegal militants in the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan is the number one cause of tension in the region.
“Azerbaijan has never caused tense relations with France and has always favored positive development of relations. Our country has made every efforts for this.”
The Minister noted that the Azerbaijani side had never evaded contacts when disagreements erupted in relations. During this period, the contacts at various levels intensively continued.
“Last year marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and France. For many years Azerbaijan and France have enjoyed dynamically developing and multifaceted relations.”
The FM emphasized that relations between the two countries can be characterized as successful cooperation covering various areas. “During this long period of time, we have implemented large joint projects in a number of very strategic areas,” the minister added.
