The deputy coordinator of the inter-parliamentary friendship group of the State Duma of the Russian Federation with Azerbaijan, member of the State Duma's Security and Anti-Corruption Committee, Dmitry Savelyev, criticized the views of the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, Konstantin Zatulin, about the events that took place in the Lachin corridor.
Savelyev reminded Zatulin that Russia officially recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the situation should be viewed from this perspective, SIA refers to AZERTAC.
"Despite existing agreements, illegal Armenian armed groups have not been removed from Karabakh, which in itself causes tension. As for the fake news about our peacekeepers, they clearly do not correspond to reality. The interaction of the peacekeepers with the Azerbaijani authorities is established on a constructive basis and is carried out on a daily basis," the deputy stressed.
Savelyev noted that Russian peacekeepers are monitoring the situation by fulfilling all signed agreements. "The resulting public dissatisfaction is completely justified, because the extraction of minerals in the "Gizilbulagh" gold field and the "Demirli" copper-molybdenum field is carried out brutally without observing any technological requirements, which causes a legitimate reaction of experts - ecologists and the public. Therefore, taking into account all these facts, I want to emphasize that it is unacceptable to make statements that do not reduce the existing tension, but rather increase it, and first of all, to make direct accusations against people from the political sphere, and moreover, at a very difficult moment, against the state that signed the Declaration on the mutual cooperation of alliance with Russia," the politician said.
According to Savelyev, such statements certainly do not serve the interests of Russia and do not support the steps taken towards peace. "I consider it unacceptable to interfere even in the most complex political process. I am sure that all interested parties understand that this is only Zatulin's personal opinion and in no way expresses the official position of our country," concluded the Russian deputy.
