Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan expand legal cooperation

Judiciary institutions of the two countries cooperate effectively in this field, giving great importance to the legal relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

On December 16, Justice Minister of Azerbaijan Fikret Mammadov met with Akbar Tashkulov, the Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan, who was on a working visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the International Forum dedicated to the 10th anniversary of "ASAN service", on the topic "The road to modern management: towards sustainable and innovative public services", SIA reports.

As a sign of deep respect for the memory of the exceptional services of the National Leader of our people Heydar Aliyev in the development of relations with historical roots between two countries, Mammadov declared the upcoming year as "Heydar Aliyev Year" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Great Leader's birth, the press service of the Ministry of Justice told local media, SIA reports.

The Minister recalled that during the National Leader's visit to Tashkent in 1997, the Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Ministries of Justice of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, and the development of our legal cooperation was encouraged.

The minister emphasized the special role of the country's presidents Ilham Aliyev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev in strengthening Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan relations, the state and other visits of the head of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan in current year, and noted the support of friendly Uzbekistan in the Patriotic War. He also noted that the new Cooperation Program signed between the Ministries of Justice within the framework of the Tashkent Legal Spring Forum last year was successfully implemented.

Expressing satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan, the guest said that he felt as if he was in his native country here and emphasized the development of our bilateral relations under the leadership of our heads of state. The Uzbek Minister said that relations with the fraternal people of Azerbaijan are always given special importance, and our current close relations create a wide opportunity for deepening mutual activities between the ministries of Justice.

During the meeting, discussions were held on the justice reforms and applied innovations in both countries, and the benefits of holding joint events and exchanging experience for both sides were noted. Minister A. Tashkulov expressed interest in the achievements of our country in this field and emphasized that Azerbaijan's experience was also studied while reforms were being carried out in Uzbekistan .

During the conversation, the sides touched on the large-scale construction works carried out rapidly in liberated territories under the leadership of the head of state after the Patriotic War, and that the complete mining of our lands by Armenia during the occupation period, which even after the war seriously hindered the restoration works, as well as caused the death and injuries of many people. The Azerbaijani side noted that 8 more people were injured by the mine explosion as early as two days ago.

The Uzbek minister said that his country was with Azerbaijan from the first days of the war and supported its rightful position. In the ministry, he got acquainted with the Victory Museum, dedicated to our Great Victory in the Patriotic War and the ongoing restoration and construction works, as well as the Museum of the History of Justice.

A wide presentation was organized by the Ministry of Justice for the guests about the ministry's innovative activities, including electronic information resources and registers, mobile justice services. Minister Tashkulov appreciated the innovations of digital justice and expressed his intention to benefit from the experience of Azerbaijan in this field.
