"The visit of the President of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev to Turkmenistan is of great importance. First of all, the visit is very important in terms of expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan. The President touched on important points during his speech within the framework of this visit," MP Elshad Mirbashiroglu said in his statement to SIA.
First of all, the Deputy, characterizing Azerbaijan-Turkey relations, mentioned the document on the strategic alliance signed between these two countries last year. He also touched on the steps taken in the direction of expanding trade circulation: "The President also stated that Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan relations are developing. In 2017, a strategic partnership was established between the two states, and Azerbaijan-Turkey-Turkmenistan plays a very important role in the formation of the transport map of the region as a whole. The cooperation of the three countries in the field of transport and logistics determines important results that will meet the interests of all three."
Continuing his speech, the deputy said that the Turkmen President drew attention to Azerbaijan's high potential for cooperation in the field of transport and logistics: "The head of the state noted that Azerbaijan is an important participant in the East-West and North-South transport corridors. Azerbaijan's logistics capabilities are quite wide. At the same time, addressing the issue of Zangezur Corridor, Ilham Aliyev emphasized that 40% of the works on the railway and 70% on the highway have been completed. In 2024, the completion of the works will be completed. Mr. Ilham Aliyev thereby pointed out that the possibility of opening the Zangezur corridor in that period is very high. During this visit, important cooperation documents were signed between Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan. This indicates that after this tripartite meeting, a very successful new cooperation platform will be observed between them. Cooperation in various directions will be developed within this platform. The field of transport and logistics will show itself as a priority area of cooperation. I think that Ilham Aliyev's visit to Turkmenistan, like other visits, was successful for our country."
