Jerome Lambert calls French Senate's resolution a 'disgrace'

President of the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan (ADA), former member of the French National Assembly, Jerome Lambert expressed his strong objection to the resolution adopted by the French Senate.

According to the local press, the State Committee on Diaspora Affairs said that the adoption of this resolution was called a 'disgrace' in the letter of the ADA president addressed to the French Senate, SIA reports.

The letter reads: "On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, the Senate adopted a resolution proposal regarding the imposition of sanctions against Azerbaijan, according to Article 34-1 of the Constitution.

French senators should know that, according to international law, it is Armenia that has occupied part of Azerbaijan's territory since 1992. To omit this point is a disgrace for the French Senate, which further disqualifies itself in the pursuit of peace.

The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, seems wiser and more informed, because he recently confirmed that France recognizes the 1991 borders, proving that Azerbaijan is right in terms of international law. Do not confuse the aggressor with the occupied country.

What does Armenia mean today? Armenia, which is allied with Russia under the Collective Security Treaty Organization (which also includes Belarus), abstained from voting at the UN to condemn the aggression and occupation of Ukraine. Do our senators don't know all this? Are they really so close to the Armenian lobby in France that they act like toys in its hands?

Peace can only be the result of understanding the truth. The senators' vote may overshadow that perspective, but fortunately, it will also show the hollowness of their view of reality.

Negotiations are underway and we must evaluate them. On the other hand, we must reject the vindictive speeches of some Armenian extremists. They have undoubtedly supported the terrorist organization ASALA, which is responsible for a series of terrorist attacks in France that have caused victims on our soil. "Memory-broken" senators must have forgotten this.

We will not find the way to peace in oblivion and lies. This resolution will not go down in history."
