Montenegro confirms its first monkeypox case

Montenegro has confirmed its first case of monkeypox infection, SİA informs with reference to the Montenegrin Institute of Public Health

The laboratory of the Department of Molecular Diagnostics of the Montenegrin Institute of Public Health identified and, in cooperation with the Serbian Institute of Virology ‘Torlak’, confirmed the first case of monkeypox infection in Montenegro.

According to the institute, the disease was detected in a Montenegrin citizen, and his condition is assessed as satisfactory.

Monkeypox is a rare viral disease occurring mainly in remote areas in central and western Africa, near tropical rainforests.
