Monkeypox death toll reached 70 in Africa

"Since the beginning of this year, about 70 people have died of monkeypox in five African countries, and no deaths have been reported in non-endemic states where the virus has spread."

According to the info obtained by SIA, the statement came from Rosamund Lewis, head of the World Health Organization's (WHO) secretariat for polio.

"There are no reports of deaths from the disease, which began in May. However, the WHO has been registering monkeypox in African countries for 50 years, and deaths occur every year."
