According to the "Izvestia" portal, this statement was made by infectious disease specialist Yevgeny Timakov.
According to him, the new wave of coronavirus infections will depend on the degree of activity of new mutations in the virus, meaning the degree to which they seriously affect the course of the clinical picture and the epidemiological situation. Timakov explained that there are currently no serious mutations, so no sharp increase in incidents is expected.
The expert noted that a stable situation with COVID-19 has been achieved in Russia. He stressed that the Russians have good immunity to the virus.
The infectious disease specialist also stressed the importance of vaccination. Timakov reminded that currently in Russia there is a nasal vaccine against COVID-19, which can maintain the level of immunity necessary to protect the body for up to six months.
