In order to strengthen the cold chain system for storage of COVID-19 and routine vaccines in Azerbaijan, 100 vaccine refrigerators with a capacity of 145 liters each and 200 vaccine refrigerators with a capacity of 98 liters each were handed over to the Hygiene and Epidemiology Centers of the Azerbaijani Health Ministry, SİA informs.
With the financial support of the European Union (EU), all refrigerators qualified by the World Health Organization are equipped with an energy stabilizer and a device that provides 30-day temperature monitoring.
In addition to vaccine refrigerators, local health partners were provided with 122 portable vaccine carriers specially designed for use in mobile immunization campaigns, as well as 102 computers, 79 printers and 79 power supply devices (UPS) to strengthen the digitalization and control mechanism.

In addition, additional equipment and devices are planned to be delivered under the COVID-19 Vaccination Support Project to ensure the safe storage and transportation of vaccines. For this purpose, the WHO Office in Azerbaijan will hand over another 500 vaccine carriers to the Azerbaijani Management Union of Medical Territorial Units (TABIB) in late April.
In order to ensure the proper use of the handed-over equipment, it is planned to conduct relevant training for the staff of local medical institutions.
The handover ceremony was organized by the WHO Office in Azerbaijan within the framework of the WHO project "Support to COVID-19 Vaccination".
In order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in Azerbaijan and strengthen routine immunization programs, the WHO Office in Azerbaijan launched a three-year project "Support to COVID-19 Vaccination" in June 2021 with the financial support of the European Union. This project is part of the continued support of the European Union and the World Health Organization to Azerbaijan.
