Director-General of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus thanked Azerbaijan for its contribution to the fight against the pandemic, including through the Non-Aligned Movement.
SİA informs that Ghebreyesus said this in a video message to the participants of the 8th Global Baku Forum.
According to him, the WHO's goal is to vaccinate at least 40% of the population in all countries by the end of the year. He added that in particular, this applies to countries in Africa, where vaccination is a particular problem.
Ghebreyesus said the time has come to take important steps on the international stage to end the pandemic.
He added that the pandemic has demonstrated the importance of health issues, and showed that even the richest countries are not immune to the disease.
