Georgia confirms the first case of mortality from COVID-19

Georgia has confirmed the first case of mortality from COVID-19 this morning out of the total 157 confirmed cases in the country since February 26, according to Agenda.Ge.

Head of the Georgian National Centre for Disease Control Amiran Gamkrelidze stated that the woman, 79, was from the eastern Georgian region of Bolnisi. Gamkrelidze said the patient, who was hospitalised in Tbilisi on March 31, suffered from pneumonia, as well as critical respiratory distress.

As of now there are 126 individuals in the country who are infected with the virus out of the total confirmed cases, including 28 recoveries. Two of the 157 were foreign citizens who have left to their respective country.
