Ministry of Health: Epidemiological situation in Azerbaijan stable, no Hantavirus threat

The epidemiological situation in Azerbaijan remains stable and there is no cause for concern, the Ministry of Health has said.

According to SİA, the ministry issued a statement in response to a global increase in hantavirus cases.

The authorities noted that preventive and rapid response measures are being coordinated with various countries under the framework of the International Health Regulations.

According to the statement, humans are usually infected with hantavirus through contact with urine, feces, or saliva of infected rodents, or by inhaling dust contaminated with rodent excretions. Human-to-human transmission is extremely rare and has only been observed in connection with the Andes variant found in the Americas.

The ministry emphasized that the epidemiological situation is under control and urged the public to rely only on official sources, stressing that the current situation does not pose additional risks to the population.
