Scientific Symposium and Presentation of a Methodological Guide on “Inpatient Monitoring of Patients After Liver Transplantation” Held
On February 5, 2026, a scientific symposium and the presentation of a methodological guide titled “Inpatient Monitoring of Patients After Liver Transplantation” were held at the State Customs Committee. The event was jointly organized by the Scientific-Practical and Training Center of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee and the Central Customs Hospital.
Speaking at the symposium, Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Colonel General of the Customs Service Shahin Bagirov noted that one of the key principles underlying the country’s successfully implemented sustainable development strategy is the protection of public health and the full provision of healthcare services to the population. The Chairman emphasized that significant achievements have been made in the field of organ transplantation in recent years and highly praised the work carried out in this area at the Central Customs Hospital.
Head of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee, Major General of the Medical Service Jeyhun Mammadov stated that the main objective of the symposium was to enhance the knowledge and skills of medical personnel in the effective management of patients during the inpatient stage after liver transplantation, to prevent postoperative complications, and to discuss the latest scientific and practical experiences in the field of transplantation.
Subsequently, speeches were delivered by Yegana Abbasova, Chairperson of the Board of the Coordination Center for Organ Donation and Transplantation of the Ministry of Health; Head and Chief Physician of the Central Customs Hospital, Doctor of Medical Sciences Bakhtiyar Musayev; and Head of the Scientific-Practical and Training Center of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee, Rashad Mahmudov.
During the symposium, moderated by Deputy Head of the Medical Service Department of the State Customs Committee Ismayil Afandiyev, presentations were delivered by Mirjalal Kazimov, transplant surgeon at the Central Customs Hospital, on “Early Management of Patients After Liver Transplantation”; Huseyn Jamalov, Head of Department at the Ministry of Health, on “Donation and Transplantation: Legal Framework and Social Impacts”; Rashad Nasirli, anesthesiologist-resuscitator at the Central Customs Hospital, on “Transfer from the Operating Room to the Intensive Care and Resuscitation Unit”; and Madina Abdullayeva, infectious disease specialist at the Hospital, on “Healthcare-Associated Infections in Patients with Solid Organ Transplantation and Their Prevention.”
The event was conducted in an interactive format through panel discussions and question-and-answer sessions.
