Meeting with Medical Students Held at the Central Customs Hospital

On September 15, 2025, a meeting was held at the Central Customs Hospital with sixth-year students of the Faculty of Medicine of Nakhchivan State University, who have started their internship program. The program is being implemented on the basis of a Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the Medical Service of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan State University. The students will undergo practical training in the departments of surgery, internal medicine, emergency care, family health, and elective courses. In his opening remarks, Deputy Chief of the Medical Service of the State Customs Committee, PhD in Medicine, Associate Professor Ismayil Efendiyev, congratulated the students on the start of their internship, highlighting its importance in their professional development. He expressed confidence that the young specialists will make a valuable contribution to the advancement of national healthcare. Doctor of Medical Sciences, General Surgeon of the Surgery Department of the Central Customs Hospital, Dr. Aynur Safiyeva, also congratulated the students and emphasized that the internship provides a unique opportunity to reinforce theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced physicians. During the meeting, the students received answers to their questions, shared their views on areas of interest, and were given recommendations regarding their future professional development. Following the event, they were assigned to relevant departments of the Hospital to begin their practical training.

The internship program is designed to strengthen students’ theoretical knowledge with practical skills, develop clinical thinking, and build patient care experience, thereby contributing to the preparation of highly qualified and competitive healthcare professionals for the future of Azerbaijan’s medical system.
